Large antique satchel from the 1880s with an elaborate German silver (an alloy of copper, zinc and nickel) frame. The beautifully detailed frame is monogrammed "M.R." It is wide and deep German silver on both sides of the bag, and it is clearly marked "German Silver" inside the frame. The little fabric tag says, "Warranted Seal Goat." (Just what IS a seal goat? Is it extinct?) The satchel is completely lined with tan leather and has one very large pocket. The lining is in excellen condition. The double handles have a 6" drop. The satchel measures 12 1/2" wide by 8" high by 4" deep. This bag is best used for display or would make an excellent theatrical prop.
