Elegant, unusual, and beautiful! Individually fitted and placed, tortoise shell-colored tiles cover a brass box shaped as a shell. The width and thickness of the brass frame or collar around the opening of the shell make the bag look handmade, but I don't know if that's actually the case. The same brass frames two little tabs that are set with mother of pearl, forming a twist or kiss closure. Brass piano hinge at the base. The dark burgandy satin lining is immaculately fitted to the shell form, and is also used for the side gussets. The rather heavy chain attaches to brass eyes about one-third down the side of the shell. The chain has a 10" drop. The bag is in immaculate condition. Perhaps never used. VERY special.
