Suffrage Era JEMCO Double Frame Bag

Suffrage Era JEMCO Double Frame Bag

lizard,purses,1900

Very dark navy blue leather with imprinted lizard texture and lots and lots of character. Some suffragette may have carried this bag! This double frame bag is in the best shape of any we've had. The brass metal, especially, is in impeccable condition. The brass frame is marked with JEMCO in the JEMCO diamond, embossed on the frame in two places. Since this is a double frame bag, with the kiss clasp coin purse suspended in the inside center of the pouch. Navy blue silk faille lining is intact. Leather strap has a 5" drop and is suspended from the arch of the layered "crown." Leather is gathered in tiny gather and hangs from the brass frame. Bag measures 8 1/2" wide at the widest point, by 6 1/2" high (not counting frame) by 1 1/2" deep, with expandible side gussets. Near mint condition, with some wea on the fabric of the coin purse. Leather is perfect.
