antique valise case Antique cowhide leather valise, still with its original key and buckle-on luggage label with window. Clearly marked "Split Cowhide Leather" on the bottom. Leather-wrapped metal frame. Heavy duty metal zipper closure that still works (and that still locks, with the key inside.) Completely rigid, padded leather handles with a 4" drop. Lined with tan-gray linen, with two droopy pockets. Separately applied, reinforced base with four round metal feet. Classic Gladstone bag shape. This antique valise measures 18" long by 10" high by 9" deep. The valise or Gladstone bag is in excellent antique condition. A few dings and flaws on the outside. The lining is perfect! Would you like to have something to talk about in the waiting- with-your-shoes-off line? This antique valise will do it! (And it is sturdy enough to be used!)

antique beaded bag Black and silver glass beaded bag from the Jazz Age and The Great Gatsby! Previously owned by a flapper whose father must have been delighted to pay her bills! Embossed nickel silver frame with a kiss clasp. Amazingly enough, the off-white silk twill lining is in great shape. One small pocket. Chain handle has a 7" drop. The bag measures 5 1/4" wide by 6 1/2" high. The pattern on the front and back is identical and the beading is all completely perfect! This antique beaded flapper's bag is in close to mint condition. What a find!
The Jazz Age! Flapper's Deco Evening Bag! MINT!

antique doctor's bag Antique leather doctor's bag or doctor's satchel. Very dark brown textured leather. Metal frame with very neat, sort of tricky and perfectly functioning nickel closure and locks. Rigid, brass-studded leather handle has a 3" drop. Lining is the leather's own suede, plus particle board down the center. (You could remove that and have a purely suede lining, but I'll leave that to you.) Seriously reinforced base with six large round metal feet. Sort of squashed shape means that this bag measures 19" long by 6" high by 8" deep. The numbers "5" and "16" are deeply imprinted into the base, but I don't know why. This antique doctor's bag or doctor's satchel is in excellent antique condition.

1880s Antique Bag I've been hanging onto this one-of-a-kind, 1880s antique embossed leather handbag for at least three years, thinking that I would try to restore it myself. However, I know I can't really restore it properly--I just don't have the time. So, I'm going to pass it along at the cost I paid for it, hoping it will find an appreciative owner.

This is the most beautiful handbag I've had in about 20 years of selling bags and a lifetime of buying them. The embossed leather is exquisite, with astonishingly detailed pictures of antediluvian flora and fauna, much of it fantastical, in shades of dark brown, dark olive, cordovan, purple, red and more. Much of the embossing is highlighted with what I suspect is real gold leaf. The padded leather satchel handle is mounted on pins in real brass fittings. There's one open pocket on the outside. The bag is lined in brown leather, with one open pocket on the inside. The brass closure is a very fancy fold-over clasp. The bag has rigid sides and measures 10" wide by 5" high by 2 1/8" deep. The handle has lost much of its leather cover, and the edges of the leather are very worn. The interior is in good shape. (Marked down from $140.00.)

1880s Antique Bag Fantastical Embossed Leather

antique reticule bag Tiny, tiny glass beads were used to completely bead this rather large reticule from the early 1800's. (The cornflower blue and brick red beads were used in the first half of that century. While some beads are slightly larger (usually the darker, opaque colors) the clear glass beads measure 25 beads per inch! Since the beading was done on fine silk mesh fabric, the beaded bag has all the graceful drape and the hand of fine silk. Cotton crocheted top with silk cord double drawstring. The bag measures 6 1/5" wide at the top, by 9" high, by 7" deep. Notice the beading-covered ball and the fringe, which adds 1 1/2". The beading is in MINT condition. NO beads are missing. However the brown silk lining is in tatters. (It's sort of good, though, because you can study the beading.) (Marked down from $150.00.)
